Remembering the Brave Ceremony
About Remembering the Brave Foundation
Remembering The Brave Foundation
The Remembering the Brave Foundation is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the memories of our brave service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and honoring their families in their time of enormous loss.

Losing a loved one to combat half the world away must be the most devastating thing a mother, father, or spouse could possibly endure. Our responsibilities as citizens of this country require us to lend assistance where we can. In some small way, that is what the organization tries to do.

Remember the Brave has its beginnings with a mother and the Marine that came to notify her of her son's heroic actions. Together, they decided that it was their mission to create a purposeful organization dedicated to the presentation of military and civilian awards within an atmosphere of healing, where the families and active duty service members who served with their sons or daughters could come together, comfort each other, and honor the memories of their loved ones.

We are working with local hotels to get an event rate for the area. This is the same weekend as the Marine Corps Marathon so we expect thousands of people in and around the National Capitol Region for the entire weekend. So it is important to make your reservations early. Just like last year we expect to have bonded child care available to those who need it. Once you know you’re coming and would like to take advantage of this service please let us know by 1 October. We will try to add this field to the registration page at www.blacktie-virginia.com so it will all be captured upon your registration.

Additonal Information and Logistics
For our Gold Star families:

Men’s Wearhouse has partnered with us for this wonderful evening. Once you’ve registered, we will email you the code you need to provide to Mens Wearhouse. For all our Gold Star gentlemen, please contact or go to a local Men’s Wearhouse and let them know you are planning on attending the Remembering the Brave Ceremony in Virginia. They will take your measurements and use the code for this event and upon your arrival, they will have a tuxedo ready for you to pickup. All free of charge, just return it the next day. All the gentlemen will be able to go into any Men’s Wearhouse or Men’s Wearhouse & Tux location to get fitted and then pick up their tuxedo at the Potomac Yards location in Arlington, VA. To find the nearest store please go to their website and use the store locator for locations and directions. www.menswearhouse.com

For our Gold Star families, our gracious sponsors have taken care of your meals but we need your reservations, seating desires, and some other important information to prepare for this special evening with you as we honor you and your loved ones and express our deep gratitude for our American Heroes.

If at all possible, we want to bring a service member to the ceremony who served with your loved one so they can be there with you on this special evening. They too are authorized a tuxedo for the evening if they have recently left the service. We need to discuss this with you well in advance to try to arrange flights for them. The earlier we know the better the chances of our getting them to the ceremony with you.

We will have bonded childcare available for our Gold Star families at a local hotel near the ceremony. We need to know the number of children and their ages with your registration in the comment/question field or we cannot guarantee availability of care for your little ones.

We will be producing a number of special gifts for you so we will need to work closely with you to make sure they are perfect.

Your guests pay for their evening at $100.00 a plate and we will need to know their names so we can ensure they are seated with you at your table, so they too need to go online and make reservations. You can make their reservations for them which ensure that they are registered with you and so the seating arrangements are completed accurately from the start. The tables seat 10 people each so invite as many as you would like and let us know if you need more tables.

Please register by August 7th to make sure we have all the information we need for the ceremony in order to make your night as special as possible and so we are prepared for you and your guests’ arrival.

Due to the number of people in the area for the Marine Corps Marathon, we will have a limited number of rooms available for our Gold Star families so please register early so we can do our best to make sure you are taken care of. When the rooms are available and the rate has been determined, we will ensure this page is updated with the new information.

Questions or concerns? Just email us and we can tell you more about this special evening. We also have other Gold Star families that we can put you in touch with to tell you about our organization and the “Remembering the Brave” ceremony.
