Remembering the Brave Ceremony
About Remembering the Brave Foundation
Remembering The Brave Foundation
The Remembering the Brave Foundation is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the memories of our brave service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and honoring their families in their time of enormous loss.

Losing a loved one to combat half the world away must be the most devastating thing a mother, father, or spouse could possibly endure. Our responsibilities as citizens of this country require us to lend assistance where we can. In some small way, that is what the organization tries to do.

Remember the Brave has its beginnings with a mother and the Marine that came to notify her of her son's heroic actions. Together, they decided that it was their mission to create a purposeful organization dedicated to the presentation of military and civilian awards within an atmosphere of healing, where the families and active duty service members who served with their sons or daughters could come together, comfort each other, and honor the memories of their loved ones.

Our host, the Westin Hotel is offering a wonderful event rate for the evening but it is important to make your reservations early because there are other events that weekend in Denver. We expect to have bonded child care for our Gold Star families if you need it. Once you know you’re coming and would like to take advantage of this service please let us know before 31 July so we can make sure we have arranged for enough caregivers and rooms at the hotel.

Additonal Information and Logistics

For our Gold Star families:
We are working with Men’s Wearhouse again this year asking them to partner with us for this wonderful evening. Once we have those details worked out, we’ll contact our Gold Star families to make sure they have the information you need to get you the code you need to provide to Men’s Wearhouse. With that code, all our Gold Star gentlemen, will be able to contact or go to a local Men’s Wearhouse and let them know you are planning on attending the Remembering the Brave Ceremony in Colorado. They will take your measurements and use the code for this event and upon your arrival, they will have a tuxedo ready for you to pickup either locally or you can pick one up at a location near you, all free of charge, just return it the next day or as soon as you get home. All the gentlemen will be able to go into any Men’s Wearhouse or Men’s Wearhouse & Tux location to get fitted and then pick up their tuxedo. To find the nearest store please go to their website and use the store locator for locations and directions. www.menswearhouse.com

For our Gold Star families, our gracious sponsors have taken care of your meals but we need your reservations, seating desires, and some other important information to prepare for this special evening with you as we honor you and your loved ones and express our deep gratitude for our American Heroes.

Funding permitted; we desire to bring a service member to the ceremony who served with your loved one so they can be there with you on this special evening. They too will be authorized a tuxedo for the evening if they have recently left the service. We need to discuss this with you well in advance to try to arrange flights for them if our funding allows. The earlier we know the better the chances of our getting them to the ceremony with you.

We will be producing a number of special gifts for you so we will need to work closely with you to make sure they are perfect.

Your guests pay for their evening at $100.00 a plate and we will need to have their registrations and seating preferences so we can ensure they are seated with you at your table, so they too need to go online and make reservations separate from yours. There are two registration links, one for Gold Star families and one for everyone else. They are clearly distinct from one another. This is necessary to separate those who require payment and those who do not. If you like, you can make their reservations for them which ensures that they are registered and so the seating arrangements are completed accurately from the start. The tables seat 10 people each so invite as many as you would like and let us know if you need more tables. Last year we had approximately $8,000.00 worth of medals, plaques, uniforms and framed photographs that were not presented because Gold Star families registered but did not show up. Please let us know as early as possible if you have to cancel because we spend a great deal of money and time on this wonderful evening.

We have determined over the last 6 years that the best number of presentations for an evening is about 50. So we are limiting the number of Gold Star family presentations to 50 for the evening. Of course more may attend but the first 50 families that have not attended previously will be presented to that evening. For our Gold Star families, please register no later than July 31st to make sure we have all the information we need for the ceremony in order to make your night as special as possible and so we are prepared. If you have any problems what-so-ever, please email me and I will call you in the evening to work through those issues together.

Questions or concerns? Just email me at beck@rememberingthebrave.org and I can tell you more about this special evening. We also have other Gold Star families that we can put you in touch with to tell you about our organization and the “Remembering the Brave” ceremony.
